Falco, in a panic, finds Reiner. All the Warrior Candidates' armbands have disappeared. Reiner tells him it's impossible. Every Eldian must wear his/her armband or face execution.
"But... yours is gone too, Sir!"
Indeed, the red armband is no longer on Reiner. He doesn't lose his composure.
"Go back to the other Warrior Candidates." He orders Falco. "I'm going to question Pieck. She must know something."
Falco leaves and Reiner finds Pieck.
"Pieck, can I speak to you for a moment?"
"Of course. What's the matter?"
"Your red armband... where is it?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You know! Warriors have a red one, Warrior Candidates a yellow one, other Eldians a gray one."
Pieck laughs. She tells Reiner it's a good joke.
"The Marleyans don't need armbands to know we're Eldians."
"But how...?"
"They just know, that's it."
Pieck smiles at Reiner and he's even more confused. What's going on? He knows the Eldian armbands exist. So does Falco, but where have they all gone? Reiner quickly realizes that all the armbands have disappeared. The people he questions are unaware of their existence. It's incomprehensible. It's as if reality has been rewritten to make the armbands vanish. Why? It doesn't change the Eldians’ status in Marley. They're still mistreated. Reiner is still a Warrior, Falco a Warrior Candidate. Nothing has changed, except for the missing armbands.
